Our Story
Propagating
and
growing plants
has always been a passion. Memories exist as a teenager being fascinated with coffee grounds that nourished the garden's tomato plants, and later as a young woman taking cuttings of any houseplant to see if, and how, they might become a new plant. In the last 20 years, there has been some level of propagated plants in the backyard. One day it dawned on me that maybe, just maybe, growing plants and sharing with others as part of my career might be fruitful.
My experience includes working in nurseries, growing in greenhouses, dabbling in medicinal herbs and finally becoming a designer and nursery woman for real. It has only been the last few years that the native movement has really solidified for me as a grower. 23 years ago while living in the Santa Cruz mountains of California is when the native plants there caught my attention, and full credit is given then for this is when natives and i actually began our collaboration.
All to say, growth is an important aspect of this life for me, whether personally or with living green things.

My soul is deeply touched knowing that growing and educating about the importance of using local ecotypic native plants helps mother earth re-balance herself from human's unconscious misuse of her important resources. i look forward to growing and changing as it becomes more clear how the new weather patterns that are upon us here in New England reveal if there will be a transition in the local flora that is around us.

IT TAKES A TRIBE
The nursery site is currently located in Harvard in an old apple orchard meadow; the owners are family friends who have graciously given permission to use this land. We are allowing mother nature to re-claim her space, and it is exciting to watch and be a collaborator with her. In the hot summer months we set up potting benches under a deliciously fruiting shade providing mulberry tree ~ which has become a favorite aspect of being on this land!

Our focus is on collecting local seed and growing ecotypic diverse genetic species as well as permaculture plants. Both types of plants add a sense of alliance ~ we are stewards of our backyard gardens and can also participate in and become nourished by what is grown there, just like all flying and land scurrying critters. We are resolved to co-exist in harmony!
